He has also got an awesome team of coaches on board to create Freak Scoring Machine.

This should be great news if you play basketball and you want to improve your scoring skills.

It would be incorrect to label any pseudo exercise format as fake plyometrics, although there are plyometric drills that can be tiring to do, yet achieve nothing. The reasons for this is two-fold. It can be caused by incorrect instructions or incorrect implementation. On one side, the originator of the drill may be unable to communicate properly, and on the other side, the athlete or person doing the plyometric drills is too lazy that he or she takes short-cuts.

This is what makes “fake plyometrics.”

The problem with errors like these is that it affects the output on your vertical jump. You won’t achieve much in terms of increase jump height or jump power. To be able to know how to improve vertical jump, you need to target two aspects in your training. One you need to get your body used to the jump movements; and two, you need to improve your flexibility.

The simplest way to know how to improve vertical jump is to get professional help. Now, a trainer, whether for a group or individual, is very expensive. This is why programs like Scoring Secrets and Prolific Shooting by Taylor Allan have become popular options. By buying any of the best vertical jump programs, you will be able to jump higher. It will only be a matter of time and inches achieved.

You can start by knowing what mistakes are commonly committed so you can avoid falling into this kind of trap.

First, never overdo the training. You need to allow you body to recover, even if it appears that you are fine and in no way suffering from training pain or cramps. Plyometrics generally will not give you pain the day after unless it is your first time to move muscles in exercise.

Second, plyometrics isn’t about the number of times you practice your jump. It is more about the height you consistently achieve with every jump. This means that you should take your time for each jump practice, and not jump meaninglessly for 2 hours. In fact, each jump should be measured to help you gauge your progress.

Third, you cannot rely on plyometrics alone if you want to know how to improve vertical jump. Couple your plyometric drills with strength training. Make sure to focus on your core strength.

Fourth, do not neglect your diet and nutrition. Since you will be burning energy quickly, you need to be able to replenish and feed your body the right nutrients.

Finally, be choosy with your plyometric training. It has to be customized to fit your needs. A general plyometric training format might be a waste of time if it does not take into account your current physical status, and condition.

Plyometrics essentially trains athletes how to be quick on their feet. It teaches reactive skills such as shifting direction from running left to suddenly having to run to your right. It also works to increase vertical leap and how to jump higher by adding inches to your jump.

Trainers like Taylor Allan get asked a lot of questions about how to jump higher, as if there was a magic exercise that would add inches to a jump. While practice can help, it will never be enough unless you apply the science of vertical jump skills. And this includes plyometric training.

Often, the issues surrounding doubts about plyometric training is the fact that a person who goes through this type of training does not feel as tired compared to if he jogged 10 times around an oval, or played practice games for 2 hours. The truth is, plyometric training is not about working hard and long, but about being quick on your feet. It is not strength training although there are many cases when muscles are strengthened because of plyometric training.

Strength training tends to pull your muscles in extreme situation that can cause soreness and tears. This is why you ache after strength training. With plyometrics training, the goal is to repeat an action with the purpose of doing it better every time. Thus, you are not stretching your muscles in the same way, but more of conditioning it to get used to a specific movement.

With plyometrics training, you can target specific reactive skills. Basketball players may want to have running, shifting directions, and jumping skills as the main focus. Tennis players do not need to work on their jump since they won’t need it as much as being able to shift balance in seconds to reach the ball in time.

You can jump higher with plyometrics. In fact, it is through the right plyometric drills that you can achieve a higher jump. However, it is important that you have means of measuring your jump heights to assess your progress. There will come a time though that your jump will reach its peak. Expect this to happen with regular training. After this happens, you may enjoy minimal increases in your jump, so the aim would be to maintain your jump height rather than push yourself needlessly.

If you drop plyometrics because you do not see any changes in your vertical jump, it may not be because plyometrics failed you, but that you failed to do the drills properly. If you are just starting out, join a group with a professional trainer, or buy an ebook like the Truth About Quickness. It will help you establish the right plyometrics training, instead of groping in the dark. Also, with the right source, you can, without a doubt, expect results through an increase in your jump height.

To real basketball fans, defense is beautiful to watch.

That’s why there’s so much interest and passion behind college basketball (because they play their hearts out on defense, and leave everything on the floor).

Don’t get me wrong, NBA teams play defense, but only during the playoffs

Taylor Allan has released a new program called Dominate On Defense.

It’s a 12 week program to help you improve your defensive abilities on the basketball court.

I learned A LOT about the program when I read this Dominate On Defense review.

Core strength is what gets you through to the next level in your training and game. It’s like mastering addition and subtraction before getting to algebra. In vertical jump program reviews, core strength is the first factor to be criticized. A vertical jump program must have a solid core strength foundation or advancing to the point of adding height to a jump will never happen.

Many people assume that the abdominal muscles is the main brunt of core muscles, when in fact, it isn’t. Core strength covers the abdominal, spine, and pelvic areas. These are all parts of the body that will be needed in order to jump higher because much of a person’s weight is carried by these three areas.

According to excellent vertical jump program reviews, jump programs like Vertical Project and The Truth About Quickness have an effective set of drills that target these 3 muscle groups so that you can control your movements better; shift your weight quickly and effectively; and transfer energy from one area to another without having to pause. And, it does all these while protecting the back, legs and joints.

The only way to test core strength is to do the most basic of exercises like squats. As soon as the core muscles are stable, it now becomes possible to come up with more forceful movements without worrying about injuries.

For vertical jumpers, this means beginning to test their jumps, and how to improve vertical leap. A couple of the Vertical Project drills to increase your vertical leap would be :

Measuring your current jump skills. This means taking note of how high you can jump, your current weight, and how fast you come down. Jump off a box 12 inches high and when you land, jump up again. If you can jump higher than the height of the box, then you have power in your jump, but you could work on your strength to increase height. If you do not jump higher than the box, then you need to work on power and you can do this with plyometrics.

Jump 5 to 6 times consecutively, making sure you do your best to reach the highest height possible. Get a person to measure each jump’s height and then average the last 4 attempts and compare it with the first jump. If the average is close to the first jump, strength drills will help increase your vertical jump. On the other hand, if the first jump is much higher, then the jumper needs to work on his speed.
